Go Big (Online), or Go Home.

Rethinking your Hamptons marketing strategy in a pandemic. If you own a business in the Hamptons, or you’re starting one, here’s our take on the best approach. Go big, online… or go home! While some businesses opted to save money by cutting media spending, we continue to see those advertising rewarded with results. The audience out here has never been bigger. More people are out here. School enrollment and real estate transactions are higher than ever. And no matter where you live, web use is up 35% according to Andrew Dugan, CTO of networking company CenturyLink. How do you reach…

Tumbleweed Tuesday in #MTK

Summer’s unofficially over (a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view) and it’s time to enjoy our beautiful beaches, fun waves, and the simple pleasures of driving without fear, shopping in relative peace and actually getting a table at our favorite restaurants. It’s also a great time to look back on how businesses did out here in what was arguably the busiest summer Montauk has ever seen. Along with the weather, restaurant business was brisk! If you own a restaurant and you didn’t kill it – fire the chef (even if you are the chef).Naturally Good’s…

Thanks to You, We Won!

We’ve gotten a lot of good news this week. Thanks to you we received thousands of votes and we are grateful to each and every one of you! We won Dan’s Best of the Best Marketing & Advertising Agency in the Hamptons. It’s nice to be popular. And it’s also great when our work gets noticed internationally. We also found out this week that we won 16 Platinum and Gold MarCom Awards (plus five honorable mentions) for websites, print ads and logo designs. What’s MarCom? An international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communications professionals. Winners range…

Congratulations, you’re a winner!

Here’s why all those awards count. Winning awards is great. Not just so you can puff up your chest, strut around like Mick Jagger without a mic, and let your mom bore her friends to death. Winning awards actually creates press, builds credibility and gives you the opportunity to assess your own work and challenge yourself. Here’s proof.   LaGuardia Design just announced they won the American Society of Landscape Architecture Award. The Southampton Patch was the first publication to cover their win. Landscape Details was a finalist in the second annual HC&G award for design innovation this year. Of…

Don’t Just Buy Local, Sell to Locals

It’s fall. They’re “gone” (ok, maybe here on weekends). Tumbleweed Tuesday was weeks ago. So here’s the question: What about us? (Warning – this could be perceived as a self-serving blog, but there is a relevant marketing message here, if you own a business on the East End.) We think the people who “really live here,” matter. But not every business out here does. Ok, go ahead, take Tuesdays off, change your schedules, but let us know. You’re busy? You’re tired? We are too. On Tumbleweed Tuesday we went to the health food store to grab some coffee… closed. The…

Our new website.(Giving birth to an elephant.)

We did it! It took more than two years to give birth to our new website, and yes – as you can imagine – it was PAINFUL. Why? Well, when we’re deciding about how to promote our clients, the strategic direction is clear. The vision is focused. We know (or have developed) the branding. But when we have to please ourselves (and more to the point, two highly opinionated people) it’s another story! What was the hardest thing to agree on? Design. Tone of voice. Color. How serious, how casual, how blue, which blue? When you’re people who make a…

Dog Days of Summer

This was the second hottest July on record in the history of New York. Ditch Plain Beach looks like Coney Island, and it’s probably easier to find a parking spot there! It’s finally August when things get really hot. The Romans called these “the dog days” because Sirius the dog star is so prominent now. We say it’s time to take a break from the business of being fabulous in the Hamptons (or whatever it is you’re doing!) and enjoy the dogs of summer! Here are some of our favorite pooches on the beach and après the beach! See you…

Out with the old! In with the new!

2009 was a busy year for b+f. While no business is recession-proof we were still able to grow and work with some amazing new clients and people. The advertising world is changing rapidly especially on the digital side. Here are a few of our predictions of what’s on the way out and what’s on the way in – 2010! What’s old? Flash websites – Yeah, they can look great, unless you’re looking at one on a handheld. Flash doesn’t load on many of these ubiquitous devices and that can be a real problem considering how many people are getting their…
